Medications of Lactose Intolerance

Many people can drink milk in which the lactase has been partially or completely broken down. This can be achieved by adding lactase drops or tablets to the milk. Lactase tablets can also be taken with meals. 

Lactase drops : These are added to milk; 5,10, or 15 drops per 250ml. of milk will generally reduces lactose content by 70 per cent, 90 per cent, or 99 per cent respectively over a 24-hour period. 

Lactase caplets/capsules : One can chew or swallows 1-6 of these with meals. 

Milk is a major source of calcium and calcium is necessary for the body. As lactose-intolerant individually cannot consume milk, they may not get sufficient amount of calcium. Therefore, they are advised to take calcium supplements also.
